Avalance Beachon Training Area

From 2023, there is a new Avalanche Beacon Training Area at the top of the Kosciuszko Chairlift, Thredbo. It is a great opportunity for beginners to become proficient with avi beacons, and for those with experience to sharpen their skills.

Mountain Safety Collective

The Mountain Safety Collective (MSC) is a not-for-profit association that supports winter backcountry recreation in VIC and NSW. They provide a free Backcountry Conditions Report aligned to international standards, providing daily observations and forecasts of all likely Alpine hazards including weather, ice, and avalanche throughout the Australian snow season.

MSC welcomes new members and supporters, who enable the important work it does.
